Deckel FP4A knee

after a couple years of Deckel neglect

swapped the FP4A Kollmorgen servo spindle motor for 3 hp italian
cnc 3 phase induction molder motor ---will be able to use vfd
rather than more complex servo drive--besides Kollmorgen servo
/Hurco control did not allow rigid tapping so no real benefit from
servo spindle drive

pulled knee today--incredible amount of greasy swarf in spite of
intact seals scrapers etc

the FP4A is the economy version of the FP4 series--so not much turcite

the primary reason for knee removal is to drill/tap knee for mounting
Hoffmann 660 rotary tilt table ---this will be used as tool room machine--not production
I will put encoders on tilt and rotate but likely keep manual rather than servo
motor retrofit--this could change

definitely going with Centroid retrofit but uncertain if I will keep brushless 3 phase
servos with encoder retrofits or brush dc servos--I have plenty of drives to choose from

the Mitsui Seiki J4B jig bore in pics will be used to machine knee and Hoffmann

and as pics indicate---will need to rescrape bearing surfaces
