Hi All,
My CNC lathe was down and I needed to thread 10 special pipe fittings for a new customer.
They are 1" hex brass about 3" long and have a 3/8"NPT i.d. thread and a 1/2"NPT o.d. thread.
I used a 60 deg. V double angle milling cutter. The vertical head tipped on the helix angle of the tapered thread . The program is less that 12 lines long. I programmed the rotation, the thread lead and the taper angle in one block. I cut the thread in one pass. Here are a few pictures.
