Reliability of FP1 Aktiv

A buddy in Switzerland is considering buying an FP1 Aktiv. I've heard that these can be big trouble if the electronics develops difficulties. Anyone have any experience with a) the reliability of these machines, and b) what happens if the active feature quits? Do the feeds become inoperable? Or do the electronic stops just quit working?
