Deckel FP2L... What's the design philosophy?

Hi guys,
A few months ago I posted a poor pic of an FP2L. Last week I took a trip to the Big City and had a look at it in person. The dealer has had it quite a while and is so keen to sell it, they will throw in a high speed head, a collet set and a dividing head. Reckon the high speed head is the deal maker. The machine looks to be in good condition but dry and dirty, I can't see wear in the ways and they haven't been sandpapered to make them all shiny. (BTW I went to one dealer whose every machine was painted a yuccy dark blue olive green and cream two tone and every machine, about 1000, had scoured ways. Saw one old dude fitting something on a big boring mill with an angle grinder, no less).

So apart from all the controls being intuitively backwards, what's the idea in having the table on the floor and the whole works moving about the table? I guess I'm also asking if your only mill was a Deckel FP2L could you get your head around it and enjoy getting good use out of it, would you be happy with a FP2L?

Thanks,
Ant
