Been thinking about doing something with the play in my FP-1 X axis spindle, I noticed Singer advertises re-worked spindles with an exchange service. "You are bidding on an overhauled X axis spindle (2100-212 60) with a new nut for a Deckel FP1 in exchange (Exchange Service), suitable for approx. Bj.1959 to 1961 with X-travel 300 mm." He also offers new spindles. Does anyone have experience with this exchange service? What would be the process, maybe spray welding? I have an "inch" machine, how standard is the spindle profile? I have had some previous success with Roton acme threaded rod on another machine. I do happen to have a new nut for the Deckel, is that half the battle? Make the spindle myself?
