Abene VHF3 knee transmission removal?

Howdy Folks,

I'm in process of replacing all of the way oil meters and lines in my Abene VHF3 (s/n 5565) and am a bit stumped at how to get to the distribution block and lines contained within the knee. Looks to me that the feed transmission in the knee needs to come out, but it's unclear if that means the Y axis screw and the splined shaft have to come out first. I'm guessing they do, as I don't see any other way for me to get my hands in to disconnect the linkages for the feed gears.

Any tips?
