I recently picked up a Kern MicroTechnik CNC mill. German manufacturer of miniature high precision mini cnc mills. 20K spindle 12 position toolchanger. TNC 355 control. Everything works great except for the toolchanger under cnc control. It can be commanded to make a manual toolchange, but will not accept a comanded toolchange from a program or from MDI. Also, it was not possible to enter any information into the tool tables.
I was able to get a copy of the original machine constants from Kern through their US subsidiary, but was unable to get a description of what they mean. I do have the TNC constants definition but there are several machine builder specific ones.
The only difference in the constant setting as received and the list from Kern was constant 21. Its was 5 and originally from the factory, was 1. After changing to 1, its possible to enter tool data into memory. Still cant command a toolchange. Tried numerous times to contact the main office but never received any response. Any info would be appreciated. I have a user manual for a newer version of this machine, but could also use a manual for this one. Vintage is 2000.
