Arboga gear head DP shifting problem (and fix)

Unclear if this fault is common to Arboga/Solberger/Wilton/Strands -type gearhead drills and mill/drills, but it may help someone some day.

The lower shifter on my EM-825 was frozen, I could not get into the upper two speed ranges. Started to get annoying, so I split apart the head castings and had a look.

The shift levers each slide a double-ended dog clutch up and down a keyed shaft, to engage one or the other gear while the other freewheels. Somehow (tool vibration?) one of the keys had worked its way out of the seat, wedging the dog in one position.

A radial tap on the key with a brass drift reseated it, and the dog roams free again. If it happens again I'll loctite the key in its seat.

BTW nice to see all the phenolic gears (and mating steel pinions) in fine condition after 50+ years. I gave them a light brushing of grease for their golden anniversary.
