Using standard no. 40 tooling in manual Deckel mill....what to do about lack of lugs

Just bought 1980 Deckel FP3....like an Active one, but Heidenhain DRO is not Active as it was built for the US market back when the only Active DRO was TNC111, which was metric only.

And since it was for US market, it has inch dials, is 230 volts and has standard drawbars.

But still has the milled out slots in the spindle ends to receive the lugs of SK40 (with external threads and integral lugs) tools. But with SAE no. 40 one needs the lugs on the spindle, not the tools. So what was going on here ? Perhaps the mill came set up for SK40 and a previous owners changed the drawbars and relied on friction only to hold SAE40 tools in place ? (and no, there are no tapped holes to receive lugs on the spindles)

Hope the draw bars are long enough to receive CAT40 tools (obviously without the pull studs in place) but still would have the "no lug" issue.

Of course this is not the first last generation Deckel I have owned that was built for the US market but damned if I can remember if the previous ones had the SK40 draw bars or standard draw bars and lugs on the spindle ends or not. I do vaguely recall an adapter that had lugs for spindle and tool...
