New to me: Hauser 3BA - Anyone have manuals or other info ?

$
0
0
I was offered a virtually 'free' 3BA with a 'if you can get it out of here by Friday' kind of deal (Z axis motor was damaged during a move). All the scraped surfaces I could see look to be in pristine shape. I got it wrapped, onto a reinforced pallet and transported to a friends warehouse. Now I need to design and weld up a rolling base for it and see if I can shoehorn it into my basement. It's a bit difficult to measure the proper weight bearing 'points' in-situ, so I'm hoping someone might have, or point me to, a manual with those dimensional details. recommended lubricants, operating instructions, etc. No pictures yet, unfortunately. Any advice, thoughts or leads on documentation would be very welcome. If this is the wrong thread I'm happy to repost elsewhere.

finishing pockets using G73

I was banging my head against the wall yesterday trying to get corner chamfering to work on pockets created with G73. The chamfering tool I was using was ¼" in dia. and did a nice job, but there was no way to get it to follow the radius of the ⅜" cutter used to make the pocket (without a lot of programming of straight lines and quarter circles). Today it hit me (after my morning coffee), I just needed to use a larger diameter chamfering tool (e.g. ½"), but set the compensation radius to be 3/16" and use G41. Chamfering tools are flexible, you can adjust the radius smaller to follow the contour and adjust the height to match. Learned something new today. I know its pretty basic, but when you're 150 miles away from the nearest dialog programmer, everything comes the hard way.:D:D

Does G08 work at the intersection of a straight line and a circle?

I would like a beveled corner at the intersection of a straight line and a circle under G41. The description of G08 only describes using it at the intersection of two straight lines.

Probably overpayed but its a nice machine and it has some nice original accessories

Its a machine from 1960 and I believe in original condition Amazing how well preserved it is

Dividing head complete with spiral milling accessories

The heavy build variator for the milling head

Angle table probably never used

Lathes .co.uk has some info on the machine
Is there someone who can tell more about the machine, worked on one perhaps
Or can help me with a manual for the machine

How far out is the price of this FP3

I know this is against the rules really but this machine has been tried lots of times with no takers.

It looks nice enough to me but there is obviously no demand at this price ,it doesn't help that it is now in pieces but what is it worth?

Anyone found a source for these? Mine are "Dayton m3496 3-6". Dayton doesn't even appear to be in business any longer. It's an odd size (of course) width = 1.040", depth = .425, length = 49" and they are cogged.

Thanks,

New dialog 2 project

$

My first dialog 2 project on the fp2NC was motivated by a project to restore a 1967 BMW R60 motorcycle. I need to bore a pair of cylinders to the next oversize. I wrote 3 dialog programs, and along the way got the fp2NC working reliably along with the help of Herr Singer.

Here are some photos of the project. The first program created the vise jaws on the right, the second created the top torque plate, the third created the bottom. The third program rotated the axes 90 deg. 4 times.

More to come, since the cylinders aren't bored yet. I'm waiting for some 10x55mm cap screws. I also need to mill the bottom torque plate perpendicular to the vertical head, and add some keys on the sides so that I can get the vertical head reasonably aligned with the cylinder. Right now the table sags in front about .001" in 5", so the fp2NC really needs to have the Z axis gibs reground. That will happen after the cylinders are bored.

If I could figure out a way to post the programs as an attachment I would.

Single point 1/2"- 14 NPT thread NCT Style

Hi All,
My CNC lathe was down and I needed to thread 10 special pipe fittings for a new customer.
They are 1" hex brass about 3" long and have a 3/8"NPT i.d. thread and a 1/2"NPT o.d. thread.
I used a 60 deg. V double angle milling cutter. The vertical head tipped on the helix angle of the tapered thread . The program is less that 12 lines long. I programmed the rotation, the thread lead and the taper angle in one block. I cut the thread in one pass. Here are a few pictures.

shaping head

$

A few months ago I fixed up a shaping head for my FP2. Now I want to use this for the first time, to make an internal 17mm hex hole, about 2" = 50mm deep. I have never used a shaping head before, can someone give me some pointers? My plan is to set this up on a rotary table, and index for the six faces.

Material is free-machining steel (1144 stressproof). The hole is blind, but I can make the initial 17mm round hole deeper (say 3"=75mm) so there's place for the chips to collect. If it would help with chip-breaking, I can also bore a short 18 or 19mm diameter after the 17mm diameter x 50mm deep part.

Cheers, Bruce

Any extra relays and M codes FPNC

I would possibly like to add a third party indexer / rotary table/ 4th and a tool change light or alarm. I did a search but didn't find an old thread on this but thought I had read something in the past. I don't want to use the pump relay. I might be able to hook a relay to the tool change button light for the alarm but would rather do it separately. Any one done this? Machine is a FP3NC with 3.

Free Deckel GK21 (Late Model) Parts - for pick up in Oakland, CA

Several years ago, there was an unfortunate accident (caused by a rigger) to my late model GK21. I have been waiting for a long time to find another similar model with some tragic flaw that would make it affordable and allow me to scavenge the needed pieces. It finally happened and I was able to create a very nice machine but I am left with many parts that some of you may want to address your own machine disasters. I have created a file in Dropbox with many images of the remaining carcass. It's all free and first come, first served. What you see is what you get so please don't ask for things like collets and spindles: they are not in the photographs. I'm in Oakland, CA and don't want to deal with shipping anything large. If you are far away and need a handle, way cover or some other small thing, I will send it to you if you pay for postage. Otherwise, you can come by my shop and pick apart what you need.

The machine was an early version of the late model, serial number 10071 and the paint is original. I swapped out the motor, pendant control and electrical box so the one I have available is 440 volt. (Note: one of the transformers is burned out.)

It's mostly junk to anyone except that person who just wanted to replace one broken thing, so I hope this will help somebody. I will scrap the remaining parts in a week.

how do you release the spindle lock during a tool change?

$

I need to rotate the tool in the spindle when the program calls for a tool change, but Dialog has it locked.

I need to line up the tool bit after a boring pass, then move the tool head a few thou away from the tool bit before the boring head is retracted. This was a good suggestion made by Ross. It works fine in mode 7 but in mode 8 I can't find a way to release the spindle. I tried setting the speed to zero in the same block where the tool change is called, but it didn't help.I also tried using M00 instead of a tool change, no difference.

I guess if there is no way to do it, I can just reverse direction and bore the cylinder again on the way up, but that only solves half the problem (I still need to adjust the boring head for the next pass, which also uses a tool change, the way the program is currently written).

Another question I have related to boring: should I use M21 & M23 to lock the X&Y axes during boring in Z? Will it result in a more accurate bore?

Deckel FP1 All lever mill

Now I have the Deckel in my workshop and upon close examination of the slow feed system, I discovered that the x axis feed control rod and change of direction device within the basic x axis casting are missing. I already have the instruction manuals in English from Tony of lathes.co.uk but he does not have the parts list with the exploded view drawings. As a newcomer to the Deckel world I don`t have a clue as to what I need to complete the machine, unless I can get hold of one of these parts lists preferably in the English language.
I looked on the Singer Website but didn`t find what I wanted. Would somebody please help me to solve this problem by selling me a parts list or letting me know where I can get one.
Thank you,
Alan

Looking for Deckel LKS grinder English Manual

Greetings!

I'm new here so hello to all to you. I know it's rude to start with a request but that's life... I hope that my post is in the right section, if not, I ask politely moderators to move it to right section and not delete it right away :)

Guys, can anyone point me to the right direction where to find an English Manual for Deckel LKS grinder? My boss decided to purchase one in a very nice condition. We have all the documentation and manuals in german and unfortunately we ourselves don't know enough german to understand it correctly... I myself know a bit of english so it would be so much easier to have the manual in english. I searched the forum and found some info on "Alan's CD" that it may contain the manual I need. I also found some Australian website and some UK website that supposedly have what I'm looking for. I'm not just sure if those websites are genuine... Could anyone vouch for those websites? I searched ebay but in vain...

Maybe some of you guys have an English manual and are willing to share? We are willing to pay a fair money for it ;)

I will post pictures of the machine if you want :) We did our first test runs but nothing fancy really, it works like a charm though :)

Cheers!

Michał (Mike)

How does this coolant pump come apart?

$

I need to disassemble the coolant pump from my FP7NC in order to change the bearings. The plastic impeller must come off to get the shaft out. How do I do that? Is it pressed on or screwed on? It wiggles slightly in the rotary direction, I'm afraid to force it any harder than I have already, and I don't want to pry on it without knowing that that's what is necessary..

(I thought I remember this discussed here but can't find anything)

coolant and the fp2nc

$

Is it just me, or does it take a lot more work to keep a Deckel nc mill clean if it uses coolant? The mill is always wet, and the wet chips stick to my hands, paper towels, etc. The coolant also seems to cause some skin irritation so I may end up using gloves all the time. The machining results due to the coolant are good, but I still wonder if it is worth it.

FP3NC Non operation help

Posting this here as this was a thread started over in teh CNC forum and think it might get better exposure here.....
OP requested the posting to be moved over here but hasn't happened so i an starting a new one here in hopes that
we can assist the OP with getting his machine up and running....
Orginal posting here: http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb...needed-305033/

Looked at the photos you supplied and have some comments...
First off the wires you label as "cut" that are in the wire conduit to the green connector at the top of the NSV board (power supply)
are normal...they are "extra wires in the loom and normally don't connect to anything..
Second....if the machine powers up and you get a display (position) on all three axis then the power supply board is working and think that is not your
problem..
Be sure all fuses are good (verify with ohm meter)

Did not read your entire post, but i did not see a note to tell us what version control you have....Dialog 3 perhaps?

Can you be more specific as to what you have tried and exactly what does not work? Generally if the machine
runs in manual mode and starts the spindle and is able top change speeds most systems are running....

Is the machine fitted with an MPG (electronic handwheel?)
Is everything connected...Is teh tool change pendant connected, can you change tools via the hydraulics?

Cheers Ross

Can't get CNC function to work, Deckel FP3NC with Dialog 3 control

Hey guys,

My name is Charles and I am new to this forum. I love this website and all of the technical help that you guys answer, so thank you in advance!

ID:	142818So far I am very impressed with this machine, if not only for the manual machining value that it has. I managed to fit a 5 jaw chuck to it, which we use for drilling and small lathe type operations, and I am excited to see its full potential. Of course we will also use it for milling.

The MAIN problem that I am having is that I don't have an operators manual and I cannot find the right one anywhere. I have one for a Dialog 5 however there are differences that I have noticed, such as my Dialog 3 does not have a % button. Anyway, I cannot get the CNC function to work and I am not sure if I just don't know what sequence of buttons to push, or if it is broken. I have the function switch turned to position 11 and have entered a simple g code program to test it but I do not know how to initiate the program. What am I doing wrong???

To power it up I used a 20 hp rotary phase converter from American Rotary with circuitry that stabilizes power spikes. So far I am very pleased with it.

After I paid for this machine and went to pick it up I was disappointed to find the machine tipped over to its front side. Why they let a bunch of high school kids use a forklift to move my machine I will never know! The milling area containing box was bent, and the machine was resting on the vertical spindle. The plastic housing was busted, and I just found out that the spindle is slightly bent. Click image for larger version.

When jogging the x axis rapidly the machine will make a horrible chattering noise. Most times it will trip the machines safety stop. Any idea of how to remedy this?

I went about replacing all of the batteries like was done on this thread

1. Replaced the battery directly under the control with 6 1.2 Ni-CD batteries equaling 7.2V.

2. Replaced the battery that was soldered to a circuit board in the back of the control with 3 B cell Ni-MH batteries equaling 3.6V.

3. Replaced the battery on the circuit board in the electric cabinet with 3 B cell Ni-MH batteries equaling 3.6V.

4. I fired up the machine and all of the same problems were there. Manual works but no CNC. I can enter a program in mode 11 but I cannot get it to save or execute. When I go to mode 13 there are no programs that are saved. Modes 7 - 10 don't do anything at all. I let it sit with power for more than one hour to charge the batteries.

So upon a more complete inspection I found what seems to be a blown power board of some sort in the back of the electrical cabinet. Click image for larger version.

ID:	142821. Does anyone have any leads on a replacement circuit board? Also I tested the voltage of the batteries I have hooked up and all were fine expect the batteries in the back of the control cabinet, which produced 0.55. I let it charge again and got 0.79V, leading me to believe that it is slowly charging.
